Family Holiday Part II
After we got back from Lumut, I was on 2 days leave. Tuesday was an ordinary day for us. Azrai and I took Tasya to BC for her English class, and after that we went to KLCC. Things doing ok. Wednesday Amli was on MC, he got food poisoning. Thursday is my first day to work after a long break.
Wake up in the morning as usual, check on the kids and felt that Azrai has a slight temperature- check his temperature, true enough it was 38.2. It is official that he has a fever, and with Azrai I have to be very-very careful because he has the history of having fit,so called office and asked for emergency leave. Really looked after him that day, he does not want to eat or drink-got really worried because he looked tired. When Amli got back form work we went to see our usual doctor, and the doctor dignosed Azrai with tonsilitis and to make it worse the tonsil has ulcer on it. That is the reason he does not want to eat and drink. The doctor gave us medication and told us that it should take him 2 days to get well providing that he takes the medication on time and with the right amount. The thing is that Azrai hates medicine, so it is challenge for us to give him his medication. That night, his temperature is really high, it was 38.9, I did not sleep the whole night.
The next day, we decided to take him to GIMC, called office to ask for the GL. Went to GIMC, have a nice 'encounter' with the front of house staff(this should be told in another day/page/blog). Went to see a nice doctor( Dr.Patrick Chan), same dignosed but it's getting worse. Dr. Patrick gave us 2 options either take him home but make sure that he takes his medication( which we know is quite a challenge for us) or admit him to the hospital. After a while we decided to admit him knowing that we cannot make him take his medication.
He was admitted to GIMC on Friday about 12 noon, we requested for single room since we know he will not be a pleasent boy when he's ill. Unfortunately single room is not available. We only managed to get the 2 bedded room. No choice, have to take the room. Once admitted, the nurse went to Azrai and put the name bracelet on his hand, the moment the nurse did that-he cried and screamed and asked us to take that thing off him. Told him cannot and try to reason with him?? Imagine try to reason with 2 years old kid, finally we cannot take it any more-quietly we take off the bracelet off his hand. Then it's time for the nurse to put the needle( is this correct???) on his left hand. We know that this will be a very big challenge for the nurses and of course us, he cried and screamed as loud and he can until the whole floor can heard him. Form that moment he was not in a good mood, he cried and cried and keep repeating "akit..akit...", it's gettinmg worse when they have to put the drip in-this means that he cannot move more than 1 feet from the bed. This irritate him more. He cried even more until I have to ask the nurse is it possible to take the drip off from his hand for a while. At first the nurse was a bit reluctant but after seeing Azrai and his trantrum, she finally agreed.
About 5 pm, Amli went back to get Tasya and Adriana so that Azrai can play with them for a while and forget about his bandage hand. When Azrai saw his siblings, he was so happy and he forget about his hand. But when they want to go back, he started screaming and wanted to go with them. We have no choice but have to let Tasya and Adriana stay with us in the hospital. Fortunately for us, about this time also our neighbour was moved to another room, this leave the whole room to ourselves. The kids really have a great time, they were running and playing with each other. Azrai even forget about his pain.
That night, at 1.30am, Azrai threw a very bad tantrum. He got irritated because of the drip, he cannot moved and I think he was feeling very uncomfortable with the fever and with his throat. It was really bad until we have to call the nurse and asked her to take off the drip and if possible gave him something to make him sleep. The nurse looked hesitated for a while, according to her she needs to ask the doctor's permission before she can do that. So, she called the doctor at 1.30am and the doc ok for her to take off the drip and gave him something to calm him down.
The next morning, when the doctor came for his round, he told me that he will not put in the drip, they will only do that when Azrai is asleep(which is a relief for me!!). That day which is on Saturday, Azrai was much better, he ate and drank and played with those who came and visited him. Around noon, the nurse told us that there will be a new patient for the next bed, I started worrying; what if Azrai threw another tantrum like the night before?? Poor the neighbput-have to listen to him crying and screaming. I asked the nurse of the avaibility of the single room, they told me that the only single room available is the Deluxe room which is RM 300 per night. After much thinking and considering, we decided to go for it rather than make other people hate us. So, off we go to the deluxe room, with 3 kids. It's like a family holiday for us minus the swimming pool.
It is like a holiday package- 3 days 2 nights-meals included, mind you all 3 meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner for the whole family and the best of all is that it's fully covered by my company!!!!!!
Family Holiday Indeed!!!!!
