Langkawi Trip-Day 1

Last Month on 27th July, we went to Langkawi for a family holiday first time in 2 years.(well, first time in 9 years for only 5 of us) We decided to go to Langkawi since we did not go anywhere during the June school holidays.

I went to MAS online and booked managed to get the free tocket for all of us. All of us were so excited, my younger brother Jojo drove us to the airport on that day, we left home at 6am and reached there at 7.00am. We had breakfast at McD(the cheapest in KLIA). All the time, I prayed that Adriana will not throw any trantum in the plane. The kids were enjoying themselves in the departure room and when it was time to board the plane, they were all excited. Adriana sat by the window and she had the view all to herself. Azrai sat with Amli behind us while all the girls sat together. In the middle of the journey Azrai wanted to join us, so he and Tasya swaped places. Just as we are about to take off, Adriana fell asleep-phew!!! I was so glad, she woke up after 20 minutes morning nap and we were almost there. The journey was smooth, only Azrai had a ears problem with the air pressure and such-pity him :(

We arrived in Langkawi around 9.45am, while Amli waited for our bags, the kids were running around inside the airport. We rent a car while we were there, at first we asked for Proton Iswara but Amli was not satisfied with the conditions of the car(the truth is he cannnot drive wihout powert stering-the condition was an excuse). So, we called the car rental guy and asked for a different car-we end up with Nissan Sentra.

Since it was still early, we decided to go around Kuah and had lunch before check in into the motel. We went to this famous Haji Ismail Group and bought chocolates to our heart contain. I love chocolates and I really enjoyed myself there. We had lunch at this stall and to my surprised it cost us RM25.00 for lunch and we had ikan bakar( a small one mind you) and mix veges. We found out after that, food in Langkawi were expensives!!!

We stayed at AB Motel in Pantai Chenang, it was budget accomodation but a very comfortable one, we booked a family room with 2 double bed, a mini bar, a tv, en suite bathroom and air conditioned room. Our room was few steps away from the beach and it was heaven to the kids.

However, we almost did not have a holiday at all when the wardrobe's door fell on my toe and cause it to swell really bad. I could not walk and cried when it happened. Luckily, Amli knew the owner and immediately called him and asked himif he knows any one who can urut mt feet and luckily the cleaner in the motel can do just that. At about 4 pm, she came and did her magic to my feet and after that I could walk a little, but that did not stop us from going around Kuah again and shop again.

We went for our dinner and Bukit Malut-known for the fresh ikan bakar and it was located next to the jetty where the fishermen came up from the sea. We ordered fish, calamari and crabs and it was a nice dinner a part from Tasya threw up inthe middle of our dinner, Adriana went crazy by throwwing rice everywhere!!! It was a CRAZY DINNER but the food was nice. I highly recommended it. The restaurant was also featured in JALAN-JALAN CARI MAKAN.

We back to the motel and about 8pm and went straight to bed.

End of day 1

Alhamdullilah

This is what we said when Dr Kumari told us that Adriana did not have reflux. reflux is when the urine did not go all out, some of it will go back to the kidney. Adriana was susoected of having this when she was admitted due to high fever last March, but we couuld not do MCU(the test that determine either you have reflux or not)as the result will not be conclusive as Adriana have to be well. We have been postponing this testfor 3 times, the first she has fiver-so no no. The second one she has eye sore or congiviatis(?) and last Thursday was the third times and luckly she was well.

A day before the test, we have to collect her urine and send it to hospital-we are expert of doing it that even Azrai knows how to do it. To do the MCU-Adriana has to be semi-concious so thatahe won't struggle during the pricedure. Her original appointment was 10.00am but at about 9.30am, we were told that it has to be delayed because the patient before her-also another kid just won't fall asleep!!! So, we have to wait. At about 10.15am were called back tothe radiology department at APSH, Dr gave adriana an oral medicine to take and hoping that she will be knocked out real soon(tough luck!!) but after so many rounds of me singing all her favaourite nursey rhymes, finally she was semi knocked out.

We have to bring her to the room where it was she changed into this horrible hospital gown and after that we were asked to leave the room. the whole process is only about 30 mins, but we had to wait for about 45mins for the result.

At about 12 noon,we were called in to see Dr Kumari and we were so releived when we were told that she is ok. Alhamdullilah,if not she has to be under antibiotik for 2 years and we have to repeat the MCU agaian, and if it is not corrected, she has to go for surgery. I cannot imagine if she has to do that.

We took a picture of her in the horrible hospital gown but I'm having a problem of downloading it-will try again later.

Azrai's Birthday(belated post)

Today is Azrai's 5th Birthday. We are not doing anything today as his Cik Milah(my younger sister is not around). We are going to celebrate his birthday this coming Sunday. At first we wanted to throw his party at IsiRimba(kindda of recreation site at Kemensah but with Adriana not well and we spent 10 days in APSH-that idea kinda fade away)

Azrai is the only boy in our family(well, was actually- my brother got baby boy last Friday) so he is spoilt-whatever he wishes, people will granted it to him especially my mom. And he knows about that, so if he did not get what he weanted, he will go saying this phrase"Cian cucu nenek" with the pitiful face. Azrai is a bit pelat-when he first started talking, we could not understand him at all and he got annoyed when nobody understands him. We still cannot understand him when he talks over the phone,he talks very fast and very slow-so it's hard to really understand him. And he will comes out with his own words like " circle in front-bone at the back", when he says this he meant chicken drumstick!!! Get it circle in front bones at the back??He says lots of funny thing like:

He says
alien al-pret from Ben 10
it means
alien UPGARDE
He says
seplee
it means
Slurpee
He says
arewethereret
it means
are we there yet?
He says
white
it means
Fucuk vegetable

Azrai is funny boy but he also very sensitive. I think he is so like me, we stick to our own friends-we hard to make new friends. We do not like to meet new people and we expect people to approach us first. But once we are comfortable with that person only then we show our true colour which are fun, warm and generally good people.

10 Days

That is the number of days that Adriana spent in APSH(Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital), and when she was there, I was there too. We almost went out of our mind-imagine 10 days stuck in hospital-no where to go, nothing to do. Adriana had high fever on 5th March, Amli was in charged of her that day, as I had to go to work. at around 9am, he called and told me that they were onthe way to APSH-Adriana was shivering. When they took her temperature there, it was 40.7-immediately she was admitted.

They conducted blood test on her, as they suspected infection as she did not suffered for flu or cough. The result came our that her white blood count was high-around 100+(normal is around 20+). Her pediatricians(Dr Kumari) suspected urine infection as she is still with diapers and at her age that is the very likely caused of infection. We had to do urine test to confirm this. It was a chellenged time to get her urine. First we used the urine bag but we did not get enough urine to do cultured test. This test is to determined what bacteria that actually attacked her. So, Dr Kumari suggested that we did it an old fashion way-collect the sample when she urine the next time and she wanted it fast, which means that we have to force her to wee. me and the nurse bought her to the toilet and ask her to wee-wee. She was really shy to the nurse, she was hugging me all the time. I know it will take a while before she went again-so I told the nurse to leave us alone and I will see to it. The moment the nurse left, she started dancing and singing and it was really hard to ask her to wee. Finally after 30 mins in the loo with her, managed to collect enough sample for the urine cultured test. The result came back positive for her urine infection, since it was there for a long time, it has effected her blood. Dr Kumari then suspected that it might have effected her kidney as this is the next thing that the infection will attack.

We had to do ultra sound for her, it was nightmare for her and for me. She could not stop screaming and the doctor who did the procedure was nice and kept apologising to me. During that time, there was time that the dictor stop looking at the screen for few seconds, and then repeated the same thing again. When he started doing this for few times-i knew somethingw as wrong. Then he told me that he wanted to ask his colleague to looked at it and asked for 2nd opinion. Definitely something was wrong. True enough-her kidney was effected that they found out that she has reflux(this is when her urine instead of coming down-some came up again to her kidney. Overtime this is damage her kidney)

The result for urine cultured took about 48 hours, and during that time Dr Kumari cannot prescribed the correct antibiotik for her so Dr Kumari just prescribed one of the antibiotik that work well for infection, for the first 3 days she still have high fever-her temp range from 38 to 40 celcius. After 3 days still the result for the cultured urine is not out-Dr Kumari changed her antibiotik and this time it works, her temp went down. Still we had to wait for 24 hours without fever before we could do another round of test-and still the result for urine cultured is no where to be seen. Apparently lab screw up-they did not do the test. Dr Kumari was furious, she asked the lab manager to see us and explained what they did to the test. But I guess the manager could not be bothered to see us, so she sent her staff. I do not have the heart to scold him-he was so scared to see me-you can see it from his face.

On saturday-the election day, Dr Kumari told us that if things were ok, she could be discharged on Wednesday- came Wednesday she still have not finished her antibiotik, she can only go home after she has completed the 5 days course of that antibiotik-which means she can only go home after 10 days in the hospital. Imagine that. All the people in the hospital knew us-then guy from the cafeteria, the lady that owned the convenience shop, all the nurses-even the cleaning lady.

On Thursday, we did another test of her urine, blood and ultra sound. This time it even worse she screamed all the way thru her ultra sound, and they found out that she has what they called it duplex system of her kidney. In a month, she has to go another test where they going to inject dye in her urine bag and then forced her to wee to see if there is reflux there and if there is she has to be under antibiotik for 2 years and hoping that as she grows her muscle will be strong to correct the reflux by itself and if not she has to go surgery to correct it.

Hopefully that she does not have to undergoing the surgery, I pray for that everyday.

Chinese New Year break

Last weekend we had a long break due to CNY. At first we wanted to go to Genting but Amli said "no way" we are going there, he said let our Chinese friends enjoy their day at the casino without have to fight the space with us. So, I suggested "A-Famosa", wanted to make a booking and found out that they were all fully booked about a month ago!!

Then, my brother who lives in Seremban invited us to go to his house, he is having a BBQ on Thursday night, and suggested that we went to Pedas Hot Spring in the morning. Since we have no other plan, we agreed to that. So, after breakfast on Thursday, we started our journey to Seremban, since the kids 'mak Tok' and 'Tok Ayah' were here, they joined us too.

Pedas Hot Spring was situated in Pedas(hence the name) and it was about 30 minutes drive from Seremban, It was small compared to Bukit Merah and not much activities in there for adults but it was great fun for the kids. They really had a great time. At first Adriana was not really thrilled seeing lots of people, and she usually take longer time to get comfortable. After almost 2 hours there only then she wanted to get into the pool. We were there almost 4 hours. the place was ok but on that day there were lots of people and 1 bad incident happened to me in the changing room, which I shall not go into details.

In the evening, we then went to Kementerian or was it Jabatan Hidupan liar to watch ostrichs(is this the right spelling?) We found nice surprises there ans they do not only have ostriches but alos deers, monkeys and other animals. Kids had fun there, looking at one species of animals after the other.

Night time we had our BBQ and we called it a night around 10pm.

The next day, we went to Bandar DiHilir since we promised the kids. The last time I was in Melaka was almost 20 years ago. so many things has changed since the last time I was there. We took the kids to St Paul Catheral and my kids made a wish at the wishing well. Tasya wished that she will marrying a young, handsome and rich prince. Which fine by me since the operative word there is RICH!!! Azrai wished for PS2. We left Bandar Dihilir around 5pm, and it was a fun day for the kids.

Once our internet connection at home stop giving me problem, I will try to uploads photos here.

Cuti-cuti Malaysia Part 2

This school holidays we did not plan anything for the kids. I could not apply for any leaves however since one of my cousin is getting engaged with someone from Kedah last weekends, we took this opportunity to go back and have a bit of R&R. And since it was a long weekends which means that I don't have to take extra off day form work we decided to go back.

It was a fun time for us all, it was always nice to go back and rewind and we found that when we were on holidays we ate a lots, I meant really we were eating non-stop even Azrai was eating regulary when we were there.

Our scheluded when we were in Kedah were made around what food that we want to eat. Breakfast always in town since I wanted to eat Apom Lenggang, lunch it will be either in Pumpong since we want to eat in Dee Nasi Pumpong or at in town for Nasi Padang, tea will be in PNK for Mat Cucur Udang, or simply chill out at home with next door Pisang Goreng, night either Nasi Royale, or yasmeen or new place that we found out Haji Ramli for a very delicious ayam kampung goreng. Even Azrai can finished half a plate of his famous nasi kandar and ayam kampung goreng.

Our original plan was to come back to KL on Monday but since we were too lazy to packed up on Sunday night we decided to extend for another day. So, we went back to KL on Christmas day. We left Alor Star quiet early about 6.30am. Along the way the kids has been bugging us to stop over at this place where you can have a splash or two from the stream next to the highway. But it was still morning and the water will be too cold for the kids. Then Amli suggested that we stop over at Penang but I never like Penang, for me there is nothhing for the kids to do there. So, the next best thing is Bukit Merah LAke Town. We never been there and the kids always wanted to go there so we decided to stop over.

We reached there about 8.30am, apparently they only open at 9am!!! So we just went around and until it was 9am. Bought the ticket for the water world found out that the Water World only open at 9.30am, so another half an hour trying to calm dowm overly excited 3 kids. Had our breakfast, at exactly 9.30am we were in the water world, and since this is a suuden plan of coming here Amli had to buy a new pair of short, a beach towel and the prive there was crazy. He bought 3 items and it cost him almost RM100.00. Imagine RM42.00 for a short which I can get for RM10.00 in normal Pasar Malam. At first I was not interested in joining them but upon seeing Amli struggling in taking care of 3 kids, I too had to join in and I too had to sepnd RM51.90 just for a pair of track bottom. We spend almost RM200.00 buying things that we can avoid buying IF only we plan this. BUt it all worth it when we saw the kids were having such a great time. It was difficult time whe we have to leave the place. Azrai kept pastering us to let him play in the pool for one last time and every time was one last time. Finannly we left the place at 1pm and arrived in KL about 4.30pm.

It was fun time for us, and we were planning to come back again but this time with a proper planning. Will update the photos once I had time downloaded it from the camera.
